David Guttenfelder is an award-winning American photojournalist covering conflict, culture, and conservation efforts in international locales. Though he’s now based in Minneapolis, his work has seen him shooting on the ground in Iraq, Israel, Rwanda, Japan, Tanzania, and beyond. His work has featured in the New York Times, Time, Wired, and National Geographic, and he’s partnered with Apple, Google, Facebook, Paramount Pictures, Sony, and Airbnb on commercial projects. As part of WeTransfer’s partnership with the World Press Photo awards, David shared his experiences shooting in North Korea, where he’s been more than 40 times, and where foreign press access is extremely rare and highly regulated.
