Award-winning, self-taught animator Dante Zaballa hasn’t let a lack of technical drawing training slow him down. Born in Argentina and based in New York, he’s made his name with an unabashedly naive and joyfully colorful style all his own. His raw shapes, lines, and textures are rendered digitally with a loose hand, and move across the screen like a child’s finger-paintings come to life. To date, Dante has produced work for the likes of Nike, Disney, and MTV, and participated in exhibitions in New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, Berlin, Buenos Aires, and beyond.
“Until now my animations were like an escape from reality. I would love to find a way to face reality and say something about it, but the truth is, it’s not so easy to talk about the world. At least not for me.”
