For Lagos-based photographer, stylist, and director Daniel Obasi, fashion imagery is a powerful tool for social activism, world-building, and experimentation. His seductive work—inspired by Afro-futurism and classic cinema, as well as the traditions he grew up with—often plays with notions of gender, sexuality and identity, fluidly incorporating elements of the masculine and feminine. Daniel’s work has been published by Vogue Italia, The Face, Vogue Portugal, and Another Man, and he’s photographed and styled campaigns for a number of Nigerian fashion brands. Daniel featured on WePresent in 2016 as part of Championing Diversity, a collaborative series with The Dots to showcase the next generation of LGBTQ+ creative talent making waves around the world.
