Born in Seoul and based in Brooklyn, illustrator Dani Choi creates color-filled, densely packed compositions that incorporate elements of fantasy, mythology, and surrealism, as well as scenes she’s observed in real life. Along with commercial work for the likes of Adidas, Apple, Bandcamp, Grazia, the New York Times, and the New Yorker, and Dani has produced a number of projects aimed at children, including “The Garden of Mischief”—a weird and whimsical project inspired by Hieronymus Bosch’s “The Garden of Earthly Delights,” Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining,” and the gory Korean myths of her childhood. She opened up to WePresent about the genesis of the project.
