It’s hard to know exactly how to define Catherine Madden. Based in San Francisco, she summarizes her practice as visual storytelling, a description that encompasses information design, meeting facilitation, design prototyping, strategic planning, and, perhaps most of all, doodling. Through the medium of pen and paper, she believes we can tap into the imaginative and idea-generating parts of the brain, synthesizing big ideas into something insightful and manageable. Starting out at Deloitte, she now consults with a whole range of businesses, big and small, offering both virtual and in-person workshops—and has also created a series of tutorials in partnership with WeTransfer’s very own sketching app, Paper, covering mind maps, data doodles, and more.
