Brooklyn artist Case Jernigan is that (still) surprisingly unusual thing, a soccer fan in the States. As the leader of Off-Foot Soccer, the list of clients for his punchy animations and expressionistic cut-outs is as long and diverse as your arm, ranging from Chelsea and Juventus, via Adidas and Nike, to the New York Times and Oxford University Press. Reconciling the footballer as comic-book character—in both its heroic and tragic aspects—he combines cut paper, painted backdrops, digital drawing, ink drawings, and a huge amount of time to create his dramatic depictions of football’s galacticos.
