Caroline Zurmely is an American artist born in 1994, who makes artworks using nail polish. Inspired by the “golden age” of tabloid photography in the 1990s, her work depicts the pure opulence, the pure excess of a paparazzi snap. Each piece shows a small, abstracted slice of one of these celebrity moments. She told us about her desire to show a different perspective on these scenes with her unique approach to art.
“I love a little bit of the tacky. I think things from the past always come back around…they’re timeless.”
