Originally from Stockport, Manchester, Axa Shareen is a London-based tattoo artist (although she also dabbles in painting and design), whose visual aesthetic is inspired by the rich cultural traditions of her parents homeland, Pakistan. Moving beyond the realms of ‘trends’, her work, known for its delicacy and ornate detail, follows the traditional geometric henna designs seen in Pakistan. Over the past decade, Axa has fought to break down the barriers of a historically male-led industry; reversing the narrative that tattooing can’t be a delicate or feminine act, and creating space for people of color to be tattooed.
