Originally from the east of Russia but now based in Moscow, Andrey refers to his own style as “Far East surreal pop art,” as he uses bold lines to draw shapes which he then fills with distinct colors. Shadows and gradients are kept to a minimum, giving the illustrations a look reminiscent of old-school comics. His work, based on real life subjects and true stories, takes you on a trip. But it’s “very serious,” he notes; “there’s no humor.” His clients haven’t shied away from this approach – Andrey has worked for brands like Google, the New Yorker and Adidas.
