Born in Romania but residing in Austria, Ana Popescu is a visual artist whose work explores childlike joy through playful and vibrant shapes and colors. Influenced by Bauhaus design, her work captures structures and interiors based loosely on images found online, and despite not directly referencing people or places, the architecture, the plants and the pools all refer to human connections and interactions. Foremost, she experiments in form and fluidity and, as such, Ana’s work is the type of quiet art that, at first glance, appears to speak quietly—only to reveal moments later the deep-level of skill hidden beneath the surface. It’s this sense of humility that first drew us to Ana’s practice.
