When completing a degree in Visual Communication, Alina Frieske felt torn between pursuing fine art or photography. So, the German-born visual artist found a way to paint with photographs. Working with data collection and search engines, Alina creates her own unique scenes by piecing together small fragments of existing imagery. The resulting collage-like aesthetic draws viewers in, revealing a new perspective with every glance. As well as playing with our perception of visual art, Alina’s work draws attention to the mass of information we continuously receive—questioning how many images it actually takes for us to see “the big picture.”
