What stories are important to tell, and what stories are important to listen to? 99.media, a documentary platform launched in France in 2005, places this question at the very heart of their work. Through a curated selection of short films from around the world, 99.media hone in on extraordinary individuals—touching on both bigger, more universal themes and unseen, hidden stories—from a blind Paralympic champion, to a society of British men who glorify the mundane, to two Japanese people who live in an internet cafe. In order to publish these stories far and wide, 99.media is the only film site to translate all of its content into different languages, to help storytellers find the audiences they’re looking for (or, perhaps, that are looking for them.)
