London-based multidisciplinary artist Yinka Ilori specializes in storytelling through contemporary design which fuses his British and Nigerian heritage. What started as a vintage furniture up-cycling venture is now a studio composed of a team of color-obsessed makers all tasked with exploring the relationship between function and form, creating pieces inspired by Nigerian parables that get passed down from generation to generation. Their work has been selected for solo and group exhibitions from New York to Copenhagen to Lagos and selected clients include Lego Group, Somerset House, Universal Music, Adidas and Bombay Sapphire. WePresent met Yinka at Design Indaba and spoke to him about his designs, what propels them and why “good energy and vibes” are paramount to all of them.
