British fashion designer, businesswoman, campaigner and activist Dame Vivienne Westwood is perhaps best known for bringing modern punk and new wave fashions into the mainstream. She began designing clothes in 1971, and was dressing the Sex Pistols shortly after, before winning back-to-back British Designer of the year in the early nineties. The recipient of countless accolades and awards in the years since (she was late to collect her gong for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design at the British Fashion Awards in 2007 as she popped out to go to the loo) her popularity knows no bounds. In addition to designing collections of magnificent clothes, Westwood is a fierce environmentalist and sat down with WePresent to discuss her “SWITCH” campaign, in collaboration with the Serpentine for “Back to Earth.”
