Born in Nigeria, Toyin Ojih Odutola is a visual artist and columnist based in New York. Her work explores themes of meaning and memory, and she’s built a reputation for eclectic drawings made with pen ink, charcoal, pencil and pastel. We interviewed Toyin for WePresent, and she told us how she employs a narrative style in her artworks to tell rich stories from a Black perspective. Toyin has participated in solo and group exhibitions around the world, including the Barbican Centre, Whitney Museum of American Art, Museu de Arte de São Paulo, and the 12th Manifesta Biennial.
