Tillie Walden is a cartoonist and illustrator based in Vermont. She’s published numerous gripping and adventurous comic books, including “Clementine” and “On a Sunbeam” – the latter of which won an award at the LA Times Book Prizes 2018. Her style carries influences of American graphic memoirs and the Japanese animation hub, Studio Ghibli. We commissioned Tillie to create a short graphic novel based on the life of the Norwegian singer-songwriter Marie Ulven, also known as girl in red. Tillie teaches at Center for Cartoon Studies in Vermont.
