American artist Sam Cannon works across photography, video, installation, and performance. She’s directed music videos for the likes of Moses Sumney, Marian Hill, and Bette Lemme, and created work for Nike, Wired, and V magazine. WePresent was originally drawn to her weird and wonderful gifs—a girl looking up with seven blinking eyes, four pairs of legs kicking out at their sandy surroundings. Sam spoke to us about the possibilities of digital animation and the line between tools and art.
