Thai creative Prabda Yoon is a prolific multi-hyphenate, working as a writer, publisher, translator, filmmaker, graphic designer, illustrator, and—occasionally—as a songwriter. But he’s best known for his books of short stories, published in Thai by Typhoon Books, the independent house Prabda founded. “The Sad Part Was,” his 2017 debut collection, won the Southeast Asian Writers Award and a PEN Translates! Award; and its follow up, “Moving Parts,” which came out in the fall of 2018, won the PEN Translates! Award too. We spoke with Prabda in Bangkok to find out more about his circuitous and exciting path through the arts, from his early days studying under Milton Glaser at the Cooper Union to his recent work as showrunner on the Netflix series “Bangkok Breaking.”
