Laura is a Panamanian video artist based in Berlin. Since completing her studies (in Panama, Cuba and Germany) Laura has been making video art that’s been exhibited all over the world, from China to Brazil to Ukraine. Exploring themes of ancestry, family, migration and distance, her creations are always colorful and unique. We featured Laura’s work on WePresent, drawn in by her ability to inhabit the space between video art and filmmaking (the latter always felt a bit too structured for her.) Laura spoke to us about collaborating with her son, what inspires her work, and finding beauty in unexpected places.
“I like to work with themes of memory and nostalgia, and I think color plays a big part in both of those.”
