Eric Hart Jr’s sensitive portraiture celebrates the beauty of Blackness, queerness, and masculinity, and the individuals who sit at their intersection. Since a series of joyful photos he took of his grandparents decked out in Beyoncé’s Ivy Park brand went viral in 2020 (while still a student at New York University no less), Eric has been commissioned by the likes of Dior, Rolling Stone, i-D, and New York Magazine. As part of WePresent’s 2020 “Reflection” series, created in collaboration with Samsung, Eric produced a tender series of portraits of himself and his friends, shot in his hometown of Macon, Georgia, and opened up to us about his creative process and what it means to be a young Black photographer today.
