Ayan Abdi is a Somali-Norwegian photographer and filmmaker based in Oslo, whose practice is rooted in belonging, memory, and cultural connection. Her kaleidoscopic view of the world is shaped by nostalgia and the constant adaptation that is required in migratory life. Centering her work on the African diaspora, she connects with people in real life and invites them to participate in the creation of her images. We featured her project “Family in Focus,” which explores diasporic identity and belonging through family portraits.
