Alice Mann is a South African photographer and artist whose portraiture essays draw an intimate take on photography as an act of collaboration (as opposed to solo.) Her work, often produced over longer periods, aims to empower her subjects, rather than simply capture them. WePresent commissioned the award-winning photographer to go back to Peak View High School outside of Cape Town to make a new series capturing prom night in all its glory. Elsewhere, Alice’s work has been exhibited at Red Hook Labs in New York City, Unseen Photo Fair in Amsterdam and the International Centre of Photography NYC, to name but a few. Her intriguing portraits have been published in print publications such as The Guardian, the New Yorker, the New York Times Magazine and British Vogue.
