Born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe, Admire Kamudzengerere is a photographer whose work delves into identity, politics and society and is influenced by the social issues that have plagued Zimbabwe’s history. After completing the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten program – which offers two-year residencies to artists each year – in Amsterdam in 2012, he went on to exhibit his first solo show in 2017 at Catinca Tabacaru, New York. And, that same year, he represented Zimbabwe at the 57th Venice Biennial. Kamudzengerere works with a variety of mediums, often in collaboration with his wife and partner Rachel Monosov, whose participation in the project “1972” (16 black and white images masquerading as documentary photography) was featured on WePresent.
