88rising is the brainchild of Sean Miyashiro—a venture originally pitched as a “Vice for Asian culture”—and what is now a project to not only document culture, but to shape it, too. Today, it’s a record label-cum-collective, bringing together 10 Asian hip-hop artists (such as Kris Wu) to work on projects that break down the boundaries of music. In just under two years 88rising has become a leading voice in Asian culture (especially in the West—bridging the gap between America and Asian culture). As a self-declared “work in progress,” WePresent collaborated with 88rising as part of our Work In Progress series, exploring different types of creative collaboration through film.
