The British filmmaker—and football player and fan—Molly Manning Walker doesn’t think there’s too much difference between the artform and the sport. Here, after years of making short films and more recently, her critically acclaimed hit “How To Have Sex”, she shares her hard-earned tips for being a successful director.

British director Molly Manning Walker’s debut feature film “How To Have Sex” won the Un Certain Regard award at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and the Discovery Prize at the 36th European Film Awards. She is based in London and is a graduate of the National Film and Television School. She was also the DP on Charlotte Regan’s debut feature “Scrapper”. Read her WePresent manifesto on how to be a successful director in 10 steps.

Manifesto is a series on WePresent which invites activists and creatives with something to say to write 10 rules to live by, in order to help spread their message. The artwork on this page was created by Chandni Poddar.
